Eyelid aesthetics ( Blepharoplasty )

Blepharoplasty is an aesthetic-surgical operation aimed to restore the appearance of the eyelids to their former aesthetic form. The upper and lower eyelids can be treated separately or together.
Who is suitable for this operation ?
-Individuals with discomfort over excessive drooping skin in the upper eyelids or a visual field which limits vision
-Those who have eyelids due to excessive fat accumulation and complain of swelling
-People with sagging lower eyelids
-People who have discomfort from excess skin and excessive wrinkles in the lower eyelids
-People who experience loosening of the lower eyelid that causes to appearing of white part of the eye under the iris (ectropion status)
How is the operation performed ?
The upper eyelid aesthetics are usually performed under local anesthesia. Lower eyelid surgery may also be performed under local anesthesia. However, your doctor may be able to recommend general anesthesia because of the longer duration and patient comfort. If the lower and upper eyelids are to be operated together and the general health of the patient is stable, general anesthesia may be preferred.
Incisions ; the incision is made on the upper eyelid above the skin fold line, and the lower eyelids are placed 1-2 mm below the eyelashes. Because the incisions are very well camouflaged, the scars are virtually invisible.

The healing process after eyelid aesthetics
Swelling and bruising around the eye and eyelids, which may vary from person to person in varying amounts, are seen after surgery. To suppress this, immediate cold application, anti-bruising creams and anti-inflammatory plasts must be used after surgery. The cold application must be applied intermittent in the first 24 hours and the plasts should be used for a week. Antibiotic therapy is also carried out against the risk of infection. Existing skin sutures are removed after one week. 2 days after eyelid surgery you can go out in sunglasses. The eyes should be protected from excessive light and dusty environments. In case of possible irritation, the soothing drops may be used.
